Design
Master plan was designed by the international design firm RTKL, and the design was completed by the architectural firm Populous. Construction of the Camden Yards began in 1989, and lasted for thirty-three months. Construction cost was about $ 110 million. The stadium was built on a land that previously served as the rail courtyard for the Baltimore and Ohio (B&O) Railroad’s Camden Station to replace the aging Memorial Stadium. Steel along with other elements was used to support the ballpark, rather than concrete trusses. The stadium consists of a three tier grandstand that extends from behind a home plate, down the first base line, and down the third base line around left field foul pole.
