On July 1, 1992 a movie called A League of Their Own was released, which is an American funny movie based on the genuine existence of AAGPBL. This film was directed by Penny Marshall. This film was full of stars like Tom Hanks, Madonna, Geena Davis and Rosie O’Donnell. Babaloo Mandel and Lowell Ganz wrote the screenplay for this film.
The movie is set in the year 1988 and features Dottie Hinson who is an old widow unwilling to attend All-American Girls Professional Baseball League (AAGPBL) induction ceremony.
The ceremony is showcases AAGPBL’s induction into the baseball Hall of Fame that is scheduled in Cooperstown, New York. Once, Dottie Hinson was one of the leagues finest players, though she appreciated baseball, she never truly considered it as a huge part of her life. This prompts a flashback that how the league was formed in the year 1943.
Due to terror of World War II MLB gets close down and Walter Harvey chooses to form a women’s league to generate money and the search for players starts and that’s how the women’s league forms. Story of this movie revolves around Dottie Hinson, who is terrific catcher and hitter. This movie ends with a championship match of the AAGPBL World Series and the story moves back to the present day, at the opening of the women’s division of the Baseball Hall of Fame.
