The year 1951, NL (National League) tie-breaker series was a 3 game series played between the New York Giants and the Brooklyn Dodgers. This game is also popular for the walk-off run hit by the New York Giants Bobby Thomson in the deciding game. This game is also known as baseball’s “Shot Heard Round the World”. In NL history this game was the second three- game playoff series.

In the first inning, Jackie Robinson of the Giants started explosively, and scored a home run. The score was 1-0 till the bottom of the 7th innings, and finally the Dodgers broke 6 innings deadlock, and scored 4 runs in the top of 8th innings. Now, the score was 4-1, and the Giants were still trailing by 3 runs, but in the bottom of the 9th innings Alvin Dark and Don Mueller of the Giants batted in superb fashion to level the score, but unfortunately they got out, and subsequent to this Bobby Thomson scored a walk off home run over the left field, and the Giants grabbed the pennant by 5-4. On October 3, 1951, Bobby Thomson scored a home run at 3:58 p.m., which is popularly known as “Shot Heard Round the World.”
