The initial uniform of Red Sox was white with red piping around the collar and the name Red Sox is written in red letters across the breast, which has been constantly used from the year 1979. Red piping around the neck of the jersey disappeared and reappeared several times. Uniform of the Red Sox is considered as one of the best uniforms of baseball.
Home Uniform-
Uniform of the Red Sox while playing at home consists of red jersey with white pant and the name Red Sox written on the breast in blue color. Red undershirts, sweatshirts and solid red stockings are worn by the Red Sox players while playing at home. On the back of the uniform, there are numbers but no player names.
Road or away uniform-
The alternate road uniform or away uniform consists of blue jersey along with gray pant and the name BOSTON written in red color across the breast.
Design and appearance of uniform-
On December 11, 2008, the Red Sox came up with their new road uniforms and also alternate road and home uniforms. The feature of primary gray uniform is that, the word BOSTON is written in blue letters across the breast and the patch of Hanging Sox on the left sleeve, which also includes the name of player and number at the back of jersey in blue color. The alternate road uniform consists of blue jersey along with gray pant and the name BOSTON written in red color across the breast.
Jersey logos-
Both the new uniforms now consist of Hanging Sox but the traditional logo B on cap is kept as it is which players will wear with primary home and alternate uniforms but not a single change is made in the primary home uniform.
The arrangement of the uniforms is made in such a way that, on all Friday road games the blue jersey will be worn and for all Friday home games red alternate jersey will be worn.
